How to get started with an SOW requirement

Start with the outcome, then build the right brief

A well-structured project brief improves the quality of every subsequent decision. It gives potential specialists enough context to assess fit and enables stakeholders to evaluate proposals against the work that actually matters.

Define the business outcome

State the decision, change, deliverable, or measurableimprovement the initiative is intended to support. Instead of “we need a transformation consultant,” describe what must be understood, designed, delivered, or improved.

Set the project boundaries

Clarify the work that is in scope, the work that is out of scope, the expected deliverables, the key dependencies, and the stakeholders who will provide direction or information.

Select the right delivery configuration

Decide whether the work is best suited to one senior specialist, a complementary micro-team, or a more durable talent pool. The answer should follow the workstream structure and High5 can advise on those best structures.

Review fit against the real work
